Drugs and Alcohol Education

Drugs and alcohol education is fundamental for children and young people to grow up healthy and safe. Effective alcohol and drug education builds pupils’ resilience and life skills around alcohol and drugs. Developing children and young people's knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in school can support them to live safely in society.

Healthy Lifestyles

The Healthy Lifestyles theme aims to promote and develop healthy lifestyle choices in the school age population, preventing and reducing the number of children with excess weight across Manchester, and incorporates a range of resources, staff training and interventions around the topic areas of healthy eating, physical activity and body image.

More than 1 in 10 children and young people now suffer from a common mental health disorder (YoungMinds, 2017). Manchester Healthy Schools is committed to supporting schools to develop early intervention and prevention strategies in order to develop the resilience and coping skills of children and young people.
