This course is designed for all school staff, as well as those that deliver RSE and can be delivered as a whole-school session. The session aims to provide an introduction to gender, sex and sexuality.
Themes Included:
LGBT+ Terminology, Pronouns & Understanding Gender & Sexuality: We all have a gender identity and sexual orientation. This section raises awareness of key terms and concepts that are needed to support developing pupils.
Teaching Inclusively: This section looks at how we can engage with young people, free from assumptions about gender, sex and sexuality.
Inclusive Language & Resources: Exploring strategies and resources for making schools and lessons LGBT+ inclusive for pupils, parents and staff.
Participants
This course is open to all staff who work with pupils in a primary, secondary or special school setting. Admin and support staff are also encouraged to attend this session.
Cost
This course is free of charge to all Manchester schools who are engaged with the 2021/22 Healthy Schools Programme.

Course Length
This course is recommended as a 2 hour session but can be condensed into a 1 hour session if needed depending on your school's needs.
