This one-hour training course is for pastoral or school health staff within schools to be able to support pupils who may be at risk or present as misusing substances. The training includes how to use the Healthy Schools' Making Changes resource to work with young people on a one-to-one basis if they are not ready, willing or able to access CGL Eclypse. The course covers techniques to support young people who may be misusing alcohol, tobacco or drugs to make positive changes for their health and wellbeing.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- support young people to find their own motivation for positive change.
- deliver brief interventions with young people using the Making Changes resource based on the Cycle of Change model.
Participants
This course is open to all secondary school staff who work within a school or Pupil Referral Unit. It may be of particular interest to: pastoral staff and School Health Advisors/School Nurses.
