Self-harm is not a mental health problem within itself but indicative of an underlying mental health problem. Young people may self-harm for a number of reasons, but primarily it is known as a way people cope with acute periods of adversity and feel in control when everything else feels out of control.
The training aims to explore: -
- What is self-harm and how it is defined
- Why young people self-harm and what do they gain from this
- How to care for young people who self-harm and help them cope in other ways
- CAMHS and MCC Pathway to support young people who self-harm
- Provision in school for safeguarding pupils
- Further support for staff and pupils
