Water safety: the importance of open water safety and drowning prevention - 9 March 2022

Course description

This one-hour training course is suitable for all staff; however, the material is aimed at KS2 and KS3 staff. It is linked to the teaching of swimming lessons and PE. The session will explore the importance of teaching open water safety and will signpost to resources to help deliver the dangers of cold-water shock, drowning prevention techniques and safety around open water (including beach safety).


This course is for Healthy Schools coordinators, PSHE coordinators, PE teachers and Pastoral staff.


This course is free of charge to Manchester schools who engage with the Healthy Schools Programme 2021/2022
