Unintentional Injury Prevention

Unintentional Injury Prevention aims to teach children, young people and their families how to avoid accidents and the injuries that can result from them. It covers a wide range of topics including home safety, road safety and water safety.

Training & Events

Unintentional Injury Prevention (UIP) is a relatively new area for Healthy Schools’ programme. Teaching children and young people the knowledge, skills and understanding they need in order to be able to keep themselves safe in any given situation, is a fundamental part of any quality PSHE curriculum.

Our UIP offer will support schools to consider the priority areas for their unique setting, be that road, tram, train and/or water safety, alongside safety considerations around the home.

Our universal training is available for all schools that have completed the Health Check.

Schools that have prioritised Unintentional Injury Prevention this year will have access to a wider selection of ‘in-house’ training and support to ensure that they are able to make significant progress in this area.

Please find a full list of training available to support Unintentional Injury Prevention below.
