We are creating a Manchester Healthy Schools recipe book and we need your recipes for it! We are asking primary school pupils to use their knowledge of healthy eating and their creativity to design a school meal which can be included in the recipe book.

The recipe books will be printed in time for International School Meals Day on Thursday 15th March 2018.

This competition can be an opportunity to help you promote school meals in your school, one of the Healthy Schools Healthy Lifestyles criteria. School meals are subject to the School Food Standards which ensures that school meals are healthy, balanced and varied throughout the week. Only 1.6% of packed lunches meet the same standards, demonstrating that school meals are often the healthier choice.

The recipe must:

1 Contain a starchy carbohydrate (e.g. potato, pasta, rice, cous cous, bread)

2 Contain a portion of vegetables

3 Contain a source of protein e.g. beans, lentils, eggs, fish, meat, cheese

4 Be prepared/cooked in under 45 minutes
